Dear Parents:
We are preparing for the new school year. With all the paperwork and information that comes home, I wanted to take a moment and bring something to your attention. In September, Sparta will be voting on a school referendum. As parents, you owe it to yourself and your children to make an informed decision. I urge you to be active and not let the opportunity pass you by to become involved. List below are times and locations where you can get further information. Thank you for your time and attention.
Tours of Sparta High School (subtitled: A Picture is a Thousand Words) to show why we need to support the September referendum to reconstruct, modernize & enlarge the high school: If you are not sure that you are going to support this referendum, please take the tour. This decision is too important to the future of our town and you owe it to yourself and the community to take a tour.
Friday, September 8th at 9:30am
Wednesday, September 13th at 7pm
Thursday, September 14th at 1pm
(Call the BOE at 973-729-1430 if you have any questions)
Sparta HS Referendum Project Information Nights where booths will be set up in the HS cafeteria so you can meet with the experts involved in this project (ie the architect, construction manager, financial experts, head of curriculum, school district superintendent, demographer, and more) and discuss the areas of most interest to you:
Thursday, September 7th at 7:30pm
Monday, September 18th at 7:30pm
Board of Education Meetings - these 2 meetings will be held in the High School cafeteria instead of the usual Mohawk Ave. School location:
Monday, August 14th at 7:30pm
Monday, September 11th at 7:30pm
Sparta High School Referendum Vote:
Tuesday, September 26th from 2:00pm to 9:00pm
Please mark these in your calendar - Sparta needs its citizens to be informed, educated with facts (not rumors) and involved. We've seen over the past many years what happens when we sit back and let decisions get made for us
If you'd like to get informed first in the comfort of your own home & on your own schedule, the Town website is www.spartanj.org, and the Sparta Public Schools website is www.sparta.org (there is a very informative "Referendum Information" section link on the top of the homepage).
